Glorianne Schott joined the faculty as a part-time lecturer in the fall of 2012 bringing her relationship with USM full circle. She received her B.A. in communication from USM and worked in admissions working with transfer students. Glorianne earned an M.S.E in higher education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and an M.S. in communication studies from Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

Glorianne’s teaching experience includes traditional face-to-face, synchronous, asynchronous, and blended classrooms. Her graduate research focused on how students’ ability to “feel connected” impacts learning and satisfaction in distance education. Glorianne is also an online instructor for an Iowa college.

Glorianne’s primary teaching areas at USM include Introduction to Communication, Listening in a Digital Age, and Nonverbal Communication. Students find Glorianne committed to student learning and sharing her passion for the study of communication. Her

professional development is focused on online instructional design and learning and serves as a subject matter expert (SME).

Glorianne lives in the Midcoast with her husband and Siamese cat. As a USM alum, she is proud to have a daughter currently studying at USM.

Glorianne volunteers as a genetic genealogist assisting people locate biological families. She enjoys listening to podcasts, music with harmonies, and music from the swing age.
