Beth Higgins has been working in the field of advising for 30 years with prior experience in Summer Session, Financial Aid, and Student Development. As the Director of Academic Advising, Beth leads the department, advises students, and is involved with retention and persistence initiatives. Beth also has managerial oversight for Disability Services Center, Credit for Prior Learning, and Veteran’s Services.

Beth is also a Reiki Master, Continuous Improvement Practitioner, Global Career Development Facilitator, and holds a certificate in MBTI Step I and II.


Beth has been active in NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising at the regional and national levels. In addition to being a board member and faculty at the Assessment Institute, Beth has facilitated presentations, performed institutional program reviews, and has been conference co-chair, evaluation chair, volunteer chair, Maine state coordinator, and an investigator for a student persistence and success grant. She has contributed to the NACADA Journal, Academic Advising Today, NACADA Clearinghouse of Academic Advising Resources, chaired the Commission for Undecided and Exploratory Students, and has been a member of the Commission and Interest Group Steering Committee.
