After graduating from Johnson State College (’97), Chris found himself working in an outdoor wilderness school in Benson, Vermont. He was fortunate to work with Robert Freeman-Longo in the treatment of adolescents who had committed sexual transgressions. Moving to Maine, Chris was able to continue his work with troubled adolescents at Sweetser, as both a counselor and a case manager. Chris later returned to Vermont this time as Program Director of Eckerd Youth Alternatives Camp E-Wen-Akee. Although Chris was not born in Maine he experienced the “rubber band” phenomenon that many Mainers have, and in 2006 was called back to the coast. Since then he has worked at the TRIO Upward Bound in several capacities, including State President for Maine Educational Opportunity Association (MEEOA), and is currently the Project Coordinator of the RSU project.
Having though hiked the Appalachian Trail for his honeymoon, Chris and his wife stress the importance of the outdoors to their three wonderful children and can often be found on an athletic field, a mountain top, or on Maine’s beautiful coastline on the weekends.
