Karmo earned her Creative Writing Masters from Boston University  with an emphasis on Playwrighting under the tutelage of Nobel Prize Winner Derek Walcott.  Her first musical collaboration was Radical Radio which opened Off-Off Broadway at the 91st Street Theatre in NYC. Humpin’ Glory Bay, a comedy, was first produced by the Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. She co-wrote and acted in a short film Face It by Wonder Dog Films which previewed at the Vancouver and Sarasota Film Festivals.

A working actress, she also acted in a television series, Yankee Jungle, on the Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet. The team of Sanders & Sanders opened their musical Gold Rush Girls at Cyrano’s Theatre in Anchorage, AK to a sold-out six week run. Her article “Go West Young Girl” was published in the 2016 Dramatists Guild Resource Directory and her comedy Homer Bound was recently produced by Good Theater in Portland, Maine. Karmo continues writing and touring her one woman stand-up comedy show.

Karmo teaches Acting for Non-Majors and Playwriting at USM.
