Dr. Fallona is currently a visiting professor and chair of the Ph.D. in Public Policy with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and Policy. She served on the faculty from 2000-2019. Since leaving her full time position, she has been working as an independent consultant, primarily conducting program evaluations and educational policy educational research. She has also taught part time for the Ph.D. program and the Literacy, Language and Culture Department.
While a USM faculty member, Dr. Fallona served in many leadership roles at the University of Southern Maine including Chair of the Ph.D. in Public Policy with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and Policy, Director of the Center for Education Policy, Applied Research and Evaluation (CEPARE), Director of Educator Preparation and Associate Dean.
Her education and policy research focuses on manner in teaching, teacher learning and quality teacher education. She has experience conducting qualitative and mixed-methods research studies and has a passion for working with novice researchers to develop their research skills and apply what they have learned to practice.
Prior to joining the USM faculty, Dr. Fallona’s academic positions included serving as an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at the University of Georgia and as a Lecturer of Educational Studies at the University of Michigan. She also worked as an elementary school teacher in Arizona and Maine.
