The Field Placement & Certification Coordinator is responsible for assisting with, managing and coordinating field experiences for practicum/ internship students in USM educator preparation programs and pathways. This position establishes protocols, guidelines and procedures for uniform field placements and collaborates with faculty members to provide mentor and supervisor training and professional development.

This position serves as the University liaison with schools and facilitates and develops working partnerships with superintendents, principal, mentor teachers, clinical faculty and university/school –based supervisors that foster successful field experience opportunities for all programs/pathways.

This position also serves as the University Certification Coordinator for in-state and out-of-state initial teacher certification and coordinates Title II responsibilities for state and federal teacher education reporting requirements. This position serves as a consultant for faculty, state educators and students on issues related to certification with all educator preparation programs and collaborating agencies.

Prior to this new position, Linda served as Director of Multicultural Education Programs (Newcomer ETEP) within the School of Education & Human Development. Linda has a B.A. in Elementary Education and a Certificate in Special Education from McGill University, a M.S. in Literacy Education, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Adult Learning, and a Certificate of Graduate Study in Culturally Responsive Practice from USM. She is a Maine certified (K-8) teacher. Linda has fifteen years experience teaching English-as-a-Second Language in the United States and Canada, and ten years managing grant-funded programs. She is bilingual and bicultural and holds dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.
