Ainsley Newman Wallace joined the University of Southern Maine Foundation as President and CEO in 2018, following more than a decade of leadership and advancement experience. During her tenure, the USM Foundation has transformed into a powerful philanthropic engine for the University of Southern Maine (USM) and its students. In 2020, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awarded the USM Foundation national awards for both overall performance and for overall improvement among peer universities.
Just last month, the USM Foundation declared victory on the Great University Campaign, the largest and most ambitious fundraising campaign in the University’s history. The campaign raised more than $50 million in just three years toward a reimagined Portland campus, including a new Center for the Arts and Center for Career & Student Success; scholarships and student supports; and academic programs of excellence at USM.
Ainsley is a storyteller at heart and in practice, frequently participating in Moth-style live storytelling events. She’s observed that her most meaningful philanthropic experiences share the same magic as a great story that comes to life in the presence of the right audience.
