Students using any GI Bill benefit (including Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery, and Dependents Educational Assistance) must request certification each semester. Here’s what happens:
Each semester:
Student requests certification
The form tells our school certifying officials that you are enrolled in classes and want to use your benefits. You can do this as soon as you register for classes.
Each semester:
School certifies to VA
School Certifying Official confirms enrollment and notifies VA of number of credits. Changes to schedule must be reported within 30 days.
Every month:
VA asks student to verify enrollment
Before sending out your payment, the VA will text you to ask if you were enrolled in classes. Respond promptly!
Every month:
VA sends out payment
Once you’ve verified your enrollment, the VA will send your monthly stipend payment. If it’s delayed, reach out!
