WMPG

WMPG was founded forty-four years ago by Howard Allen, a student attending the University of Southern Maine, as a pirate radio station using a Mr. Microphone, a converted washing machine, and a turntable.  It has now become a national award winning radio station that utilizes a blend of USM students, volunteers, and members from the Greater Portland Community to produce the music and public affairs programs.  It broadcasts out of WMPG’s studio on Bedford Street in Portland, ME.
