How the pathway works
During your final year of undergraduate study, you can complete up to 15 credits worth of USM graduate-level Electrical Engineering courses — if you meet progress requirements and graduate program admissions standards. Up to 9 credits of graduate-level courses will satisfy credit requirements for your undergraduate major at USM as well as the first year of the UMaine master’s program.
This pathway is offered in partnership between the University of Southern Maine (USM) and University of Maine (UMaine).
Major in Electrical and Computer Engineering
To enroll in the UMaine Electrical Engineering MA Accelerated Graduate Pathway, you must declare a major in Electrical and Computer Engineering at USM. Our program is accredited by the EAC (Engineering Accreditation Commission) of ABET (formerly the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).
Program requirements
You can apply for this pathway during your third year of undergraduate study at USM, and must have a GPA of at least 3.5 to be considered. To satisfy credit requirements for both your undergraduate major and your future UMaine graduate program, you’ll be required to earn a high grade in specific courses.
Admission to UMaine Electrical Engineering program
During your undergraduate studies, you will be required to submit the UMaine graduate program application along with all required admission materials. Your Academic Advisor will provide guidance on submitting your application.
About the UMaine Electrical Engineering program
You can choose a thesis or non-thesis option in the UMaine graduate program. If you choose to complete a thesis, the pathway will take 6 years to complete. If you choose the non-these option, the pathway will take 5 years to complete.
