Music Minor

Have you always been someone who’s been involved in music? Whether you are in all of your high school musicals, love playing the flute in the concert band, or enjoy being creative, pursuing your music minor from the University of Southern Maine (USM) allows you to keep your love of music alive while pursuing your undergraduate degree.

A minor offers the opportunity to explore an area of study that complements your major like Music Education, Marketing, English, or Communications. Choosing a minor in one of these areas allows you the ability to specialize, or stand out in roles that require more creativity, like being a music critic, working in social media for a record label, or choosing to work in music public relations.

After enrolling at USM, if you are interested in a minor, you can work one-on-one with your professional advisor to select a minor that meets your interests.
