Still have questions?
Reach out to your friendly and dedicated Admissions Counselor if you have additional questions or need assistance with your admission. Your counselor is happy to connect with you based on your communication preference, be it video chat, email, phone, or text.

Important next steps
As a newly admitted student, there are still some steps you need to complete before you attend your first class. Learn how to secure your spot, sign up for housing, enroll in courses, submit immunization records, attend orientation, and more. We’re excited for you to start your first semester as a USM Husky!

Information for parents and family members
As an incoming student, your success is our main focus — but we know your parents and families are integral, as well. We created a collection of resources for parents and families to learn about important things like dining plans, disability services, campus safety, school breaks, and much more.

Meet fellow admitted Huskies
We created a social space just for your incoming class! Connect with your future classmates, find roommates, and get your questions answered by our staff or your peers in our USM Class of 2026 Facebook group.

Interested in living on campus?
We provide housing on our Gorham campus, with residential communities for first-year students that help you transition to life on your own. Choose from 10 community themes such as citizenship, social justice, creativity, the Rainbow Floor, entrepreneurship, and more. As a residential student, you're more likely to build better relationships with faculty and your peers, feel supported in and out of the classroom, and earn higher grades.

Questions about financial aid?
We believe education should be affordable, and our Student Financial Services staff is committed to helping you navigate the financial aid process. Find out everything you need to know about your options: from scholarships and grants to student loans and completing your FAFSA. Securing financial aid means you can save money and focus on your studies.

New construction on our Portland campus
Located within walking and biking distance to the heart of downtown Portland, our Passive House residence hall and eco-conscious student center will open for our summer 2023 term. You’ll have access to spacious study areas, a café, our Career & Employment Hub, the University Store, and much more. If you choose to live on-campus during your first two years at USM, you’ll have priority access to Portland Commons housing for your fall 2024 term.

Digital Swag
Show your Husky pride by downloading a custom USM background image for your phone, iPod, tablet, computer, Zoom, or social media account. Choose from campus shots, Portland's Back Cove, or the Old Port.

Campus tours and online experiences
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we offer a limited number of in-person Gorham and Portland campus tours. We want to make sure you have the access you need to make your final admission decision, so we created ways you can learn about the University of Southern Maine (USM) from home. Sign up for a webinar dedicated to admitted students, schedule a one-on-one video chat with a current student or faculty member, and more!
