The Osher School of Music Jazz Alumni All-Stars is a group comprised of musicians who have graduated from the University of Southern Maine over the past 20+ years. This stellar group includes Katie Oberholtzer, vocals; Bailey Giles, saxophone; Daniel Cole, guitar; Daniel Strange, piano; Duane Edwards, bass and Phil McGowan, drums.

After leaving USM and the Southern Maine area, these musicians have dispersed around the country and now call New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Portland, ME, home. Their playing credits include performing as freelance musicians in a wide variety of musical genres, with artists and groups such as Burt Bacharach, Kamasi Washington, Billy Pierce, Greg Hopkins, Steve Reich, Bijon Watson, Jacob Collier, Robert Glasper, Chuchito Valdes, Johnathan Edwards, Trombone Shorty, and the Portland Jazz Orchestra.

These stellar musicians have also won numerous national and international awards and have enjoyed performing at notable venues, including Dizzy’s at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall, NBC’s The Today Show, the Minton’s Playhouse, and Miami’s, Arsht Center, just to name a few. In addition to their exceptional performing, they spend much of their time composing, recording, engineering, and teaching music.

As part of a 3-day residency at the USM’s Osher School of Music, the Osher All-Star Jazz Combo will now be performing what promises to be a very special show at One Longfellow Square, Portland, Maine on April 5 at 8 p.m..
