Treasures of the Universe

Since ancient times people have observed distant clouds in the night sky. The invention of the telescope led to the discovery of many more nebulae in the 17th and 18th centuries. Later, it was shown that many nebulae were actually distant galaxies. Thanks to modern instruments such as the Hubble Space Telescope, we can see the beauty and wonder of the universe in great detail.
