Understanding Forced Displacement and Supporting Immigrant-Origin Students

The Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Community Impact is proud to offer a new pilot training for staff and faculty, “Understanding Forced Displacement and Supporting Immigrant-Origin Students,” on May 9 from 12:00 – 1:30.

This 90-minute session was developed to share information about the unique experiences and challenges of immigrant-origin students and internationally trained professionals, and was designed to provide staff and faculty with:

  • A general overview of global forced migration
  • US refugee resettlement process
  • Immigrant-origin students at USM

The program is made possible by the Maine Economic Improvement Fund, which supports initiatives that strengthen Maine’s workforce. Offered by the EICI’s Global Talent Navigator, this session features an informative slideshow and facilitated discussion.
