Weather: A Concert for Climate Change and Social Justice
This concert will feature a variety of choral and instrumental works on the theme of weather and climate. The centerpiece of the program is the Maine premiere performance of Rollo Dilworth’s masterwork Weather based on Claudia Rankine’s poem of the same title. Weather takes a hard look at the climate in America in 2020 taking into consideration systematic racism and the Black Lives Matter movement as well as the Coronavirus and climate change.
Featured will be the Osher Concert Band, conducted by William Kinne, and the Osher Choral Ensembles, conducted by Nicolás Alberto Dosman.
This live performance takes place at State Street Church at 159 State Street in Portland, Maine on Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 general, $5 students, seniors, USM employees and alumni.
