The Center for Teaching Innovation (CTI) provides a resource-rich space for learners of all stripes to gather and collaborate on compelling problems of practice in the field of education. The aims of the CTI are to

  1. Promote constructive risk-taking
  2. Disseminate useful knowledge, and
  3. Cultivate a thriving educational community for university students, faculty, and local partners.

To facilitate these goals, the CTI is designed to facilitate productive work through an open-floor plan interspersed with pockets of ergonomic furniture and tools ideal for team engagement. The space also includes cutting edge technologies such as large, web-connected touchscreens and 3D-printers for converting ideas into practice. An abundance of low-tech resources for writing, drawing, and documenting learning are also housed in the space for trying out the latest curriculum, simulating contemporary instructional environments, and situating the community’s maker culture at the intersection of art and science.

The transformative capacity of a community depends on the people, and the CTI is staffed by a dynamic group of faculty with extensive experience in K-12 classrooms and a range of professional expertise in multilingualism, STEM, art, social studies, literacy, leadership, and educational foundations. The CTI affords students and faculty with an inspiring environment to learn together every day.
