The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Southern Maine plans to transform the fifth floor of Glickman Library into a Public Humanities Lab. This lab will be a cross-disciplinary hub where students, faculty, and Maine’s cultural and technology partners can collaborate on research projects and receive workforce training. The lab will feature a classroom, collaboration space, exhibit gallery, storytelling lab, and cutting-edge digital tools to support applied research and community partnerships. The lab will provide a space for students to hone transferable skills such as information literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication, along with information technology-specific training in digital archiving, GIS mapping, data visualization, and website development.
