Steven Shirley, PhD

Dr. Steven Shirley, originally from the state of South Carolina, earned his BA in Political Science from Clemson University and his MA in Political Science from the University of Missouri. In 2003, he received his Ph.D. from Old Dominion University.

Over the years Dr. Shirley has lived and worked abroad, traveling and teaching in Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. His research interests include studies on “soft power”, religion and foreign policy, and the Constructivist approach to International Relations. Dr. Shirley is the author of numerous Op-Eds, articles, and the books “Butterfly Whispers” and “Guided by God.”
