Kim Charmatz is originally from Maryland and has also lived in Florida, New York, and Virginia. She began working for the University of Southern Maine in 2015, and is currently an Associate Director in the Advising Department. She is a liaison with the Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and Policy, and Physics departments and is a part-time faculty member in the Environmental Sciences and Policy department.
She attended Virginia Tech, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and attended the University of Maryland, receiving a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, Science Education. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, being outdoors, hiking, bicycling, and swimming. She has a passion for protecting animals and nature.
