Administrative Specialist
Ian joined the USM community in 2021. He holds a BA in English Literature with a Minor in Philosophy. He has completed coursework for his MA in 19th Century American Literature.
Ian currently works in the Portland Office of Registration and Scheduling Services as an Administrative Assistant (CL2) and manages the RegisterUSM inbox and ORSS phones. He assists with communication and website work, as well as registrations, adds, drops, and an assortment of other administrative tasks. In his spare time, he enjoys writing poetry, hiking, reading, and playing video games. His partner, Dr. Lillian Sparks, is the British History Professor at USM.
Expertise
- Manages and maintains communication with students, faculty, and staff over phone, email (registerUSM), and in person.
- Assesses, recommends, and develops solutions to administrative difficulties in regards to registration and enrollment.
- Processes approved requests for transcripts, replacement diplomas, name changes, etc.
- Assists with content entry and maintenance for the ORSS website.
