Suzanne Parkman earned her PhD in Nursing at the University of Texas in Tyler, TX. Dr. Parkman’s research, teaching, and professional focus are on gerontology and critical service learning with marginalized and vulnerable communities and populations. She teaches in both undergraduate and graduate school. She has presented her research at annual conventions regionally, nationally, and internationally. She has been recognized by the National Hartford Center for Gerontological Excellence as a Distinguished Educator in Gerontological Nursing 2023. She has won the Faculty Senate Award for Scholarship and the Partners for World Health Award for Academic Excellence for her international work in Bangladesh. She is the founder and Director of the Frontiers in Aging Research Lab, which provides interprofessional research opportunities working with senior service agencies in the southern Maine community.
