My current research interests focus broadly on the family. I am particularly interested in father involvement/fathering/fatherhood, among immigrant fathers, especially immigrant fathers from the African Diaspora. A previous project examined issues that may hinder West Indian immigrant fathers from being involved with their children and how social work practitioners and programs could help to assuage these issues.  Responses showed that West Indian immigrant fathers view going to school and work, and the type of intimate relationship they are engaged in as possible hindrances to being involved with their children. Another of my projects focused on the meanings of father involvement among West Indian immigrant men across various sites in the United States.  Findings indicated that fathering was viewed as a holistic practice and that fathering was also to be engaged in for the lifespan of the father and child.
