Darla joined USM in 2019 as an administrative specialist. She is the Coordinator of Social & Behavioral Sciences Academic Support. She is also a part time instructor for the SBS internship course. Darla received her Master of Science degree in Adult & Higher Education from USM in 2024. She is the 2022 Emerging Scholars Award Recipient of the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She was nominated for the USM Classified Staff Senate Staff Commendation Award in 2024 and 2025 for recognition in the areas of achievement, excellence, and advancing equity.

Darla lives in the deep woods of Maine with her husband of 25 years and two adult children – one a recent USM graduate and the other a current USM student – and two very opinionated but ridiculously adorable tabby cats, Gracie Mae and Maggie Mac. She loves to hike, canoe, write humor, practice meditation, and is a Level II Certified Reiki Practitioner and Hospice Volunteer.
