Mary Ledue-Bell  earned a BS in Art Education with a concentration in Painting from the University of Southern Maine in 1981. She has taught art in the public school system at all levels for the past 30 years. She has taught in the community setting with home school groups and served as Education Director of a small community theater. She has particular expertise in the area of Arts Integration and offers a course called Teaching Through the Arts each Spring semester that promotes teaching the arts across the curriculum.


Mary began her work in USM’s Art Education program in 1993, and has taught at one time or another, each of the courses in the Art Ed degree program. She supervises Student Teachers in their public school placements, and is Coordinator of ArtLab, the Community based after school art program, designed to give Pre-service Teachers their first Practicum experience in teaching art to children.


Mary’s form of creative expression lies in the visual interpretation of music using mixed media
