Gigi McAllister currently teaches the reading methods course, EDU 565. She works as a literacy specialist at Great Falls Elementary School in Gorham, Maine. She spent 10 years as a special education teacher for grades K-6 in MSAD 40 and then in Lewiston, Maine. During this time she earned a M. Ed. at USM, which ignited a love of literature and literacy and a thirst for learning to help students and teachers. She then taught fourth grade in Gorham for 14 years.
Gigi has presented nationally at the NCTE convention, and locally for MEA and at Reading Round Up. She serves on the Maine Student Book Award and Nerdcamp Northern New England committees. She reviews books at The Late Bloomer’s Book Blog and occasionally writes articles for Choice Literacy.
