Michele Cheung is an adjunct instructor of Creative Writing, where she has taught writing and literature courses for over twenty years, as well as at the University of New England, Southern Maine Community College, and the Maine College of Art. She directs the Southworth Planetarium’s prose and poetry reading programs that provide a performance venue for USM and community writers, including the popular Night of Eire and conducts writing workshops in the local community. She has been the president of the Part-Time Faculty Association, the University of Maine System’s adjunct faculty union, since 2014. Her background includes independent journalism, activism and writing to expand human liberation.
