Alan Kaschub has taught music theory and aural skills at USM since 1998. He also served as director of the Osher School of Music from 2013 to 2023.

He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance at USM studying with John Schnell and a Masters in Trumpet Performance from New England Conservatory studying with Charles Schlueter.

As a trumpet player and theory teacher, Mr. Kaschub is interested in the practical and interpretive applications of theory and aural skills as well as helping students meet the professional expectations of the stage and classroom. 

He has performed with the Portland and Bangor Symphonies, the Maine Music Society, the Norumbega Brass Ensemble, and the Hyperion Trumpet Ensemble.
