Nancy K. Gish is Professor Emerita at the University of Southern Maine. She has taught at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, and the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching modern literature, rhetoric, and many courses in Women’s Studies, she was a founder and the first director of USM’s Women and Gender Studies Program and the director of the Provost’s Summer Writing Seminar. She has received many awards for teaching and scholarship, including a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship and a research fellowship to Oxford Brookes University. Her scholarship includes three books on T. S. Eliot, two on Hugh MacDiarmid, and many articles on modern poets and Scottish women poets.
