Frank Gallagher is a Project Specialist in the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Southern Maine. He grew up in Bangor, Maine, and graduated from the University of Maine, where he earned a BA in Journalism and served as the Editor in Chief of the school’s newspaper, The Maine Campus.

He began his career as a journalist, writing for a variety of national and trade publications before joining the staff of a San Francisco newspaper as a political reporter, columnist, and editor. He subsequently pivoted to a career in public affairs and strategic communications, working with a range of public- and private-sector organizations.

Frank moved back to Maine in 2006, and worked as the Communications Director at ecomaine and, later, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. He served as USM’s COVID-19 Asymptomatic Testing Coordinator from April 2022 through July 2023, when he joined the Office of Student Affairs.
