Melissa McGee is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She is a Policy Associate II at the Catherine Cutler Institute working as a Tribal Child Welfare Product Development Specialist with the Capacity Building Center for Tribes. She also serves as the Tribal Fellow for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). She was recently an Indian Child Welfare Supervisor for Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Children & Family Services, where she served her tribe for more than eight years.
Melissa serves as Secretary of the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association (OICWA) and is a member of the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA.) She is a former member of the Tulsa County ICWA Court Council and McCurtain County Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT.)
Before her employment with Choctaw Nation, she worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) for seventeen years, including multiple years as a Child Welfare Specialist and Certified Child Sexual Abuse Specialist, and with Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services (EOYS) as a Family Focus Initiative social worker.
Mrs. McGee holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology and a Master of Science in Native American Leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
