Ben Cates

Prior to working at the University of Southern Maine, Ben has spent three years as a Caseworker supporting client’s Housing & Employment goals and three years as an Ed Tech/Instructor. Ben has also been a supervisor in the retail space and a Camp Director for Elementary-aged youth. They are well-versed in systems navigation, employment skills, and working alongside learners with diverse needs, especially those with language barriers or intellectual disabilities.

A life-long Mainer and graduate of the University of Maine, Ben is fluent in French and is a firm believer in the importance of life-long learning. In their spare time, you can find Ben relaxing with their cat, Lacey, & their wife, Kristen, reading fantasy/sci-fi novels, or enjoying the beauty of the Maine’s rocky coastline.
