Summer Sullivan, PhD

I am an environmental sociologist by training. My work thus far has investigated how new technologies—particularly those from Silicon Valley—are shaping social and material relations within both small- and large-scale agricultural systems.

In the past, my teaching has focused on topics such as race, labor, environmental and social justice, and sustainable agri-food systems. As an instructor, I love engaging students in critical discussions that promote the connection of their own experiences to the social and environmental spaces around them. In my courses, we will bridge theory, method, and practice, with opportunities for critical engagement beyond the classroom.
