Tyler Richards

Tyler is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Southern Maine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Texas Tech University and went on to work in landscape design and construction drafting in the Big Apple. While his career path has taken a few turns, his dream of becoming the Hank Hill of lawn care remains very much alive.

As a counselor, Tyler brings a grounded, warm, and genuine presence to the therapeutic relationship, with a dose of humor along the way. He believes that clients are the experts in their own lives and takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling. Tyler is particularly interested in working with athletes and drawing on his own experiences as an (amateur) athlete to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health support in athletic communities.
