Dominic Barraclough is the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at the University of Southern Maine.  Before becoming Vice Provost, Dr. Barraclough spent 20 years at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville as a faculty member and administrator.  He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington, an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Central Washington University, and a Ph.D.in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota.  He also completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Counseling and Consultation Services and is an alumnus of the Management Development Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.

After 11 years as a full-time faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Dr. Barraclough served in a series of progressively responsible administrative positions, the most recent of which was as Interim Director of the School of Education.  In these positions he worked closely with faculty governance to foster an environment in which students can be both supported and challenged.  Notable achievements in these roles include developing new academic programs, leading the development of a learning outcomes framework for the Division of Student Affairs, implementing an online early alert retention system, and facilitating the development of a faculty-led program prioritization process.  He had a leading role in the institution’s 2016 reaffirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), including developing the process for managing evidence files, final editing of the Assurance Argument, and co-writing the Quality Initiative Proposal and Report.  Most recently he led the effort to get HLC approval for the addition of two branch campuses.  In these various positions he also served on many governance and administrative committees and actively participated in all aspects of academic program administration.

Dr. Barraclough is a member of the Editorial Board of “The Humanistic Psychologist” and was also the founding board Treasurer of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Real Estate Foundation, which built two multi-million-dollar residence halls in a unique public-private partnership with the university.
