Carrie Kancilia is a Senior Lecturer in the English and Women & Gender Studies Departments and serves as the Writing Center Director for the University of Southern Maine. Kancilia teaches a range of courses at USM, including seminars on Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, and George Orwell as well as film, rhetoric, and professional/technical writing. Her scholarship can be found in George Orwell Studies (2024); James Joyce Literary Supplement (2023); Joyce Studies Annual (2020); and The Modernist Review (2020). Most recently, she co-authored (with former USM Writing Assistant, Anna Nguyen), “Changing Labor Expectations for Writing Centers in the Age of Gen AI” for Impact of Emergent Technologies on Writing Centers and Pedagogy (IGI Global Scientific Publishing, 2025).
