Ann Swardlick

A writer with many years of experience in higher education marketing and communications, Ann joined the USM Foundation team in 2017. In her role as Associate Director of Communications, she focuses on strengthening the brand of the Foundation as “a catalyst for transformation” at the University of Southern Maine. She works to build the case for philanthropy by elevating public awareness of USM and sharing the impact of the Foundation’s fundraising mission with the wider community.

Ann earned her BA in English at Colby College and her MA in Communications at Northwestern University. She is a deep believer in Maine’s public universities and the value they bring to the state she loves. She has a long history of volunteer community service in Yarmouth, where she raised a family with her husband, David, and continues to be engaged in public art, gardening, and singing.
