I am teaching at my alma mater, having graduated from USM in 1991 with a BA in Political Science and Sociology.  I held a graduate fellowship at American University in Washington D.C., where I earned my MA (1997) and PhD (2004) in Sociology.  As a graduate intern at the Maryland Division of Corrections, I helped establish an intelligence network to reduce the impact of gangs and other security threats in the state’s prisons.  I have over 15 years of experience working with juvenile and adult offenders, in settings such as the Long Creek Youth Development Center, Riverview Psychiatric Center, and Cumberland County Jail.
