Ryan Wilson brings a diverse background in education, administration, media production, and student engagement to his role as Administrative Specialist CL2 in the Early College department at the University of Southern Maine. He grew up in Auburn, Maine, and moved to Portland in 2016. He received his Associate of Applied Science in Video Production from Southern Maine Community College in 2003, his Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies: Writing from the University of Southern Maine in 2007, and his Master of Fine Arts in Film and Video Production from Ohio University in 2014. He joined the University of Southern Maine in 2022 and currently serves as the Administrative Specialist CL2 for the Early College department.

Before his current administrative role, Ryan taught at Ohio University, where he designed and taught courses that blended theory and production, including Teen Rebellion in Film, Horror Film & The Poetry of Fear, and Screenwriting. His courses emphasized critical thinking, creative expression, and inclusive storytelling, with a focus on positive representations of gender, race, and sexuality.

Beyond administrative and media work, Ryan has helped to produce the annual Maine-based film showcase Damnationland, overseeing filmmaker coordination, marketing, and the creation of original soundtracks and branding materials. He currently hosts a show on WMPG called Mutants of the East, showcasing “crate-digging” oddities from Maine.

Known for his adaptability and wide-ranging skill set, Ryan is proficient in numerous digital tools and learns new platforms quickly. Outside of work, he enjoys playing music, reading comic books, and watching films.
