Dr. Paulu has been on the faculty of USM since 2007, serving as an embedded epidemiologist with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Environmental and Occupational Health Program. His primary focus has been to expand and enhance the online public health data portal known as the Maine Tracking Network, a partner in the US CDC’s National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. He conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses involving spatial analysis, geocoding, and mapping applications; manages pre-meditated and ad hoc investigations, surveys, and data utilization projects; jointly designs and builds interactive online data displays; supervises epidemiology staff; writes manuscripts; and interacts with and provides consultation to other Maine CDC programs. Dr. Paulu held previous positions at the State of Maine Bureau of Health and Boston University School of Public Health.

Dr. Paulu regularly presents at meetings of the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network, Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists Conferences, and also the Yarmouth Health Council.

Dr. Paulu lives in Yarmouth with his family, and manages to bicycle year round.
