Avery Levesque-Schott grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. From an early age, Avery had a profound love for singing and the choral arts. He attended Butler University in Indianapolis, IN where he graduated Cum Laude with degrees in Music and Peace& Conflict Studies.

During his time at Butler, Avery served as a section leader and later the Director of Choral Activities at Roberts Park United Methodist Church. In this role he had an opportunity to  collaborate with artists, activists, and community leaders to shape impactful musical liturgy and build community. Avery is constantly seeking to learn about how music and community building can foster dialogue to build a more sustainable and harmonious world.

Avery is currently a master’s candidate at the University of Southern Maine in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He has a passion to learn about therapeutic techniques to assist clients experiencing performance anxiety and hopes to integrate mindfulness practices into his future work.

Prior to joining the team at the University of Southern Maine Foundation, Avery served as the Parish Administrator and Communications Specialist at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke (Episcopal) in Portland, ME. He has served previously in roles as a behavioral health professional working with students in public school settings.

Avery is thrilled to be joining the dynamic team at the University of Southern Maine Foundation. As a current graduate student, he is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside passionate colleagues who are inspired by their mission to serve as a catalyst for transformation at the University of Southern Maine.

Avery lives in Auburn with his wife Bethany, along with their dog and two cats; he enjoys spending time with friends and family, going for walks on the beach to collect sea glass, playing disc golf, exercising, and singing as part of an a capella chorus, Renaissance Voices.
