Originally from Seattle, WA, Carter is a soon to be three-time graduate of Florida State University with a background in both English and sport management and will graduate with his Ph.D. in sport management this summer. His research pertains primarily to social media consumer behavior, natural language processing with machine learning, and contemporary subcultures of sport spectatorship, but his primary passions are teaching and mentoring students to prepare them to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the contemporary sport industry. Outside his professional life, he is painfully devoted to Florida State football and softball, an amateur hiker, an avid fan of anime and gaming, and an aspiring master of thrift. He also finds other people endlessly fascinating and enjoys learning about their passions and interests.
