Chris is the Program Coordinator of The Recovery Oriented Campus Center (The ROCC). He received his Masters in Social Work from the University of New England . Chris has worked as a clinician for 15 years as a Substance Use and Mental Health Clinician. He has also served as the Substance Use Prevention Coordinator for Day One and Coordinator of the city of Portland’s Overdose Prevention Program, as well as Chief of Staff for the Mayors Substance Use Task force. Chris believes that everyone has been in some state of recovery throughout their lifetime. The ROCC remains the buoy for students dealing with but not limited to: family stress, relationship issues, financial stress and of course academic pressures as well as substance misuse and mental health. Our goal is to create a community of wellness at the ROCC and to break the stigma and bias around recovery. Chris believes that educating faculty members and students will only enhance what recovery really is and that people can get better and lead not just ordinary, but extraordinary lives.
