Danielle Dalton, OTD, OTR/L

Danielle Dalton, OTD, OTR/L is a proud graduate of both the MOT and PPOTD occupational therapy programs at USM. She is a practicing occupational therapist with over 9 years of vast knowledge and experience in the school-based and outpatient pediatric settings. She specializes in school-based practice with a special interest in executive functioning skills, adverse childhood experiences and trauma informed care, familial support, and tiered intervention.

Danielle teaches in the pediatric course sequence, OT foundation courses, ethics and group process. She enjoys working as a faculty adviser with doctoral students to support research and community involvement.

Danielle’s doctoral capstone is titled, “Tier 1 Executive Functioning Intervention for Students with Adverse Childhood Experiences in the School Setting”. Danielle volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, Guardian ad Litem (CASA-GAL) for children in the foster care system acting as their advocate and providing a voice for children that have been neglected or abused. Danielle is the Maine chapter leader for Say Yes to Recess, a national, grassroots nonprofit movement that advocates for protected, unstructured daily playtime for children in schools. Danielle has experience advising capstone students, supervising fieldwork students and creating volunteer and advocacy opportunities for students. Danielle is a member of the New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Association, Maine Occupational Therapy Association and AOTA.
