Dante Micheaux

Dante Micheaux is the author of Circus (Indolent Books, 2018), which won the Four Quartets Prize from the Poetry Society of America and the T. S. Eliot Foundation, and Amorous Shepherd (Sheep Meadow Press, 2010). His poems, essays and translations have appeared in Brooklyn Rail; Callaloo; Essence; Literary Imagination; Poem-A-Day; Poetry; and PN Review—among other journals and anthologies. Micheaux is also the librettist for Sky in a Small Cage, which had its world premiere at the Copenhagen Opera Festival and its United Kingdom premiere at the Barbican. His other honors include the Oscar Wilde Award, an Amy Clampitt Residency, the Ambit Prize, and fellowships from Cave Canem Foundation and The New York Times Foundation. An educator and arts administrator for more than 20 years, Micheaux is the 2026 Distinguished Visiting Writer at Cornell University and was recently announced as a Civitella Ranieri Writing Fellow.
