Debra Gillespie PhD, RN received her BSN from the University of Southern Maine, her MS from Northeastern University in Boston and her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, School of Nursing. Deb has over 15 years of experience as a Magnet Coordinator, clinical nurse educator, and Research Nurse Coordinator and compliance officer. Deb is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Research and Resources for the University of Southern Maine, School of Nursing where she teaches in the undergraduate nursing program. She is also a research grant reviewer for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Research Chair for Kappa zeta Chapter-at-large. Deb has been accepted into Sigma Theta Tau International’s Mentoring Program where she serves as a mentor to novice researchers. Deb is also a research mentor at Maine Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. Deb is the Research Liaison to Mid Coast Hospital.
She has conducted qualitative and quantitative research studies, has several publications, and has presented both nationally and internationally. Deb’s passions and areas of expertise are nursing research, evidence-based practice, informed consent, knowledge translation and mentoring.
