Dr. Emily Stultz is a distinguished scholar with a comprehensive academic portfolio. She earned an Associate of Science in Liberal Studies from Middlesex Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University, a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Her academic excellence has been recognized by her membership in the esteemed honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Alpha.
Currently, Dr. Stultz is a Project Director at the Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine, specializing in Population Health and Health Policy. Additionally, she runs a private practice offering psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families dealing with mental health and substance use disorders. She also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts, Global Campus, where she teaches Master of Social Work courses covering the diagnostics and treatment of substance use disorders and conducting field seminars.
Dr. Stultz’s research primarily explores trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorders. Her dissertation, “Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Female Veterans: Understanding the Biopsychosocial Implications in Later Adulthood,” examines the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors affecting female veterans with PTSD as they age. Her insights have been featured in publications like Social Work Today, where she has contributed both a Letter to the Editor and an article on suicide prevention among veterans.
An accomplished public speaker, Dr. Stultz frequently presents on topics including suicide prevention for general and veteran communities, the integration of mental health services into primary care settings, and the cultivation of healthy workplace boundaries.
