James Buzzell

Jimmy is an alum of the Muskie School at USM where he received his MPPM with a concentration in planning. After Muskie, he worked as a municipal land use planner in Lewiston, Maine. While working as a planner, he developed interests in urban theory and urban geography which led him to Clark University in Worcester, MA where he is currently a PhD student. His recent research explores the relationships between space, place and direct democracy and engages with work on platform urbanism, legal geography and rideshare ballot measures. His dissertation research focuses on planning ballot measures and their implications for local land use policy.
