Janelle has worked in lakes in New York, rivers in Idaho, coastal systems in Texas, and wetlands in Florida, and now enthusiastically brings what she has learned from those diverse locations and ecosystems to support science in Casco Bay. Janelle has a deep sense of curiosity that leads her to strive to understand the myriad of connections and forces that shape the Casco Bay Estuary and spread knowledge on how the estuary and the Casco Bay community can mutually support each other.

As the Staff Scientist for the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership at the Catherine Cutler Institute, Janelle helps oversee environmental monitoring activities through the watershed, coordinate research projects to understand threats to our ecosystems, and collaborate with partners to protect, support, and restore our natural resources. She also helps educate partners and the wider community on the importance of the Casco Bay Estuary and how they can help the many species that call it home.
