Technical Assistance and Data Specialist, Maine Roads to Quality PDN
Education
- Bachelor of Science, Computer Science/Sociology, Union College (Schenectady, NY)
Jason joined the Catherine Cutler Institute as a Technical Assistance and Data Specialist on the Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) team in August 2024. In his role, he is the primary contact for technical assistance with MRTQ’s online professional development trainings and performs data analysis on training use and effectiveness. Jason also provides data analysis support for the Catherine Cutler Institute’s Data Innovation Project (DIP) in partnership with the University of Maine’s Computing Community for Good program.
Jason has a strong skill set in statistics, computer science, and programming, particularly in data analysis software (Python, R, Excel, and Tableau). He is passionate about leveraging his skills in computing and in quantitative and qualitative data analysis to investigate societal patterns and address inequity.
As an undergraduate student at Union College (Schenectady, NY), Jason majored in computer science and sociology. Blending both of his areas of study, his work as an undergraduate included a senior thesis project on the contributing factors to sexual assault reporting rates on college campuses, supporting a research project on a mathematical approach to proving gerrymandering, and a data science internship at the General Services Administration through the Civic Digital Fellowship.
Outside of work, you can find Jason supporting his favorite soccer team (Fulham FC), frequenting coffee shops in Portland, listening to his favorite podcasts, or looking for his next great thrift shop purchase.
